JULES' GUIDE TO STRESS-FREE ENTERTAINING

JULES SHARES SOME RECIPES AND TIPS TO HELP CELEBRATE THAT SPECIAL OCCASION IN STYLE!

Special occasions at Jules' place are all about relaxing with family and friends, eating outside, and enjoying a long lazy lunch that rolls well into the afternoon. Food is fresh, flavoursome and doesn’t need too much fussing around in the kitchen. Platters, shared plates and help-your-selves- styles rule the day.

Jules loves to serve a big Mediterranean plate of cured meats – a nostalgia from her time in Italy. Her Green Hummus option works well on the side and is a chic, snappy fresh cousin to regular hummus. It’s creamy, filled with summer herbs fresh from the garden, and just the right level of tartness to make your welcome platter sing. This is an ideal match for the Jules Taylor Grüner Veltliner – a novel little wine that is a relative newcomer to New Zealand and is GREAT with food. Family gatherings when everyone’s having a glass are the perfect opportunity to open an unusual bottle and try something new.

For the main course, Jules has chosen a relatively low effort recipe so she can drink wine with guests rather than slave away at the grill. This slow roasted tomatoey lamb shoulder is a nice easy twist on the classic New Zealand leg roast and the robust flavours are a fine accompaniment to the Jules Taylor Pinot Noir.

Special occasions are a chance to step up the sides, although again Jules has gone for a dish with maximum flavour and minimal fuss. This bright & summery dish of asparagus & broccolini with salsa verde has got all the zesty greens to pair well with the Jules Taylor Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, and this brightness is offset with silky, decadent Stracciatella. It’s a lovely way to showcase seasonal green vegetables (again, straight from Jules’ garden!) and is perfect as a luscious side or as a light snack on its own later on.
