Grand Champion Wine for Oysters!

Jules Taylor Wines 2011 Sauvignon Blanc has been awarded the Grand Champion Wine at the 17^th annual Old Ebbit Grill International Wines for Oysters competition in Washington DC.

Each year at this time the Old Ebbitt Grill in Washington, DC conducts the Wines for Oysters Pairing Competition. And each year the results confirm how well New Zealand wines pair with food, and in this case, New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs with fresh-shucked oysters. There were 233 wines submitted from 13 countries. The distinguished panel of judges included wine experts Michael Franz, Paul Lukacs, Marguerite Thomas and others; chef Jose Andres; and US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

New Zealand took the top three places with Jules Taylor Wines 2011 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc being named the Grand Champion Wine. This highly competitive & sought after award receives by the glass placement in multiple locations at one of the USA's most prestigious & well loved restaurants.

Awesome......am off to get some oysters!

A rare & exciting event is happening in Auckland on Thursday 20^th October 2011 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary year of Outward Bound in New Zealand. Sir Richard Branson is in town and will be the key note speaker at this event where premium NZ wines will be matched with a five course gourmet banquet. JTW are very happy to be a part of this event with our 2010 Pinot Gris being chosen from many contenders to be the only Pinot Gris featured at this event and one of the wines pairing with the entrée course! Taste at the Cloud

RWC is in full swing in NZ at the moment and JTW has managed to get in on the action which is very exciting! Taste at the Cloud is just one of the experiences that has been opened for guests to NZ during this time. Taste is based in the Amazing new building on Queens Wharf at the Auckland waterfront, THE CLOUD, & is showcasing the best of NZ food & Wine among other things and is open every day until 6pm until October 23^rd. We are thrilled to have our award winning Jules Taylor 2010 Marlborough Pinot Noir being showcased in the ‘Urban’ section. I hope those of you visiting NZ will get a chance to check out ‘Taste at the Cloud’!

Another Gold (or Excellent) for the 2010 Pinot Noir!

This wine is showing off for us at the moment & we are very happy to have received an Excellent (Gold medal equivalent) award for the Jules Taylor Wines 2010 Marlborough Pinot Noir at the Marlborough Wine Show! This event was held in Blenheim this month & is a regional celebration of the great wines from Marlborough.

Things are looking up with Spring definitely showing its face & the weather warming up. To celebrate this Marlborough 4 Fun is holding Picton Springfest THIS WEEKEND (Saturday 17^th & Sunday 18^th September 2011) on the foreshore in Picton, so for those of you in the area this is a great event not to be missed. Free admission & some great music including The Roots, the Dukes & LA Mitchell along with cooking demos & wines tastings…………JTW will be there – we hope to see you there too!

2010 Pinot Noir wins Gold!

We have had quite a few compliments on Jules’ 2010 Pinot Noir lately & to top it off it has just been awarded a Gold medal at the NZ International Wine show! Great news………Great Pinot! Jules, George & I have each had a glass, (alright or bottle) or two of our Jules Taylor Wines 2009 Marlborough Pinot Gris recently, all on separate occasions & have each come to work saying how good it is tasting! We thought we would share this little bit of insight with you & let you know that the time is right, if you haven’t already drunk it all, now is a good time to open one of those bottles! Jules Taylor Wines 2010 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has been awarded Category Champion: Sauvignon Blanc in the Wine Access International Value Wine Awards 2011 which were held in Canada last month. Keep your eyes out for the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc which was bottled yesterday! – we are very excited about this one as well.

Our very talented Jules has done it again, bringing home 3 medals from the SFIWC 2011. The 2009 Pinot Gris, which has admittedly been going down very well lately, was awarded Gold, while our favourite 2010 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc came in with a Silver medal. The 2009 The Wrekin Pinot Noir managed to sneak in with a Bronze to top it off! All round a pretty good result we think! sfiwc.com

Vintage is finally over...

Vintage is finally over with the last of our grapes being handpicked today for our Late Harvest Savvie! There is no slowing down for Jules though and on Friday she heads off to the USA for a month peddling her wares and is looking forward to catching up with all of you over there.

The Air NZ Koru Lounges are holding wine tastings to showcase the medal winners from the 2011 Air NZ Wine Awards. We will be at the Wellington Domestic Koru Lounge this Friday the 20^th of January 2012 & Friday the 27^th January 2012 with our Pure Gold medal winner – Jules Taylor Wines 2011 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. If you are flying out of Wellington between 4 – 7pm on Friday we would love to see you! If you aren’t there on Friday, don’t panic……there will be chilled JTW Sauvignon in the fridge so you can try it in the next couple of weeks!
