When Jules talks about Sauvignon Blanc, clouds part and celestial choirs sing. This is the wine Jules loves.
Jules loves this wine because it is so expressive of the site where it’s grown. Our Sauvignon Blanc has twice won Champion Sauvignon Blanc trophy at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards - possibly a reasonable feat.
Elderflower and currant aromas are accompanied by notes of citrus and passionfruit in this years Sauvignon Blanc. It has a radiant light yellow hue, tinged with green and the dominant flavours are fresh and herbal layered over ripe tropical fruit & citrus notes. A fine line of acid ensures the flavours are focussed and leads to a delicate yet persistent finish with underlying mineral tones.

The 2011 - 12 growing season in Marlborough was cool & lacked the usual sunshine. This weather meant that potential harvest volumes were down as many berries did not develop while the fruit that did form had incredible flavours. The cooler season in Marlborough allowed the fruit to be harvested at a time when flavour development and sugar accumulation were in perfect balance. Fruit for this wine was grown in the Hawkesbury, Lower Wairau & Awatere Valley sub regions of Marlborough. Each fruit parcel is chosen for its specific contribution to the aroma, flavour and structure in the resultant blend. The grapes were harvested, pressed and cold settled over a period of 48 hours. After racking off juice lees, a long, cool fermentation with selected yeast strains took place. Post fermentation the components were blended, stabilised and bottled with a screwcap closure to retain freshness.
