A wine that wraps its arms around you and won't let go.
This wine has a complex nose of peaches and cream with hints of apricot danish pastry, combined with papaya, brazil nuts and just a touch of smoky reduction. Rich and opulent, this wine has lashings of macadamia and spice from barrel fermentation and just the right amount of smokiness, whilst retaining beautiful, concentrated citrus and stone fruit flavours and an elegant backbone of acidity. This is a powerful, brilliantly structured wine with a long, complex finish.

95 POINTS | SAM KIM, WINE ORBIT
Only 840 bottles made. Single vineyard wine from low-yielding vines. Intense, vibrant chardonnay with struck-flint, grapefruit, peach and brioche underpinned by lively acidity that adds energy and length. A stylish wine with backbone and subtle power.
94 POINTS | BOB CAMPBELL, MASTER OF WINE
Complex and layered bouquet with aromas of spices and ripe orchard fruits, layers of new oak weaving through a core of fruit and toastiness. On the palate - full-bodied, complex, fruity, layered and enticing. Grapefruit and peach, apple, lemon and quince. Medium+ acidity and oak pushes along the texture and flavours of fruits, oak and spices. Still very youthful with high energy and plenty of palate appeal. Lengthy finish, coming into balance so best from late 2021 or early 2022 through 2026+.
95 POINTS | CAMERON DOUGLAS, MASTER SOMMELIER
The impressive, youthful 2019 vintage (5*) was grown and hand-picked in the Meadowbank Vineyard, in the Southern Valleys, and fermented and matured for nine months in French oak barrels. Bright, light yellow/green, with a fragrant, slightly smoky bouquet, it is weighty, with concentrated, ripe, stonefruit flavours, mealy, toasty notes adding layers of complexity, balanced acidity and a long, harmonious finish. Best drinking 2023+.

macadamia and spice
and just the right amount of smokiness, whilst
retaining beautiful, concentrated citrus and
stone fruit flavours and an elegant backbone of
acidity. This is a powerful, brilliantly structured
wine with a long, complex finish.
VINEYARD NOTES
This single vineyard Chardonnay is made from hand picked grapes grown in the Meadowbank Estate Vineyard
in the Taylor Pass subregion of Marlborough. This particular block was carefully managed for low yields and
highly flavoured grapes. The wine is a mix of two clones – Clone 95 and Mendoza Clone Chardonnay.
VINIFICATION
The
Mendoza Clone parcel was pressed straight to barrel for a wild fermentation. The Clone 95 was split into two
parcels, one fermented wild, and one inoculated with M2 yeast. All the wine went through a full Malolactic
fermentation to soften the acid profile before maturing in barrel with occasional lees stirring for nine
months. The result is a tiny 70 cases of exquisite, complex, harmonious Chardonnay.
