2021 SINGLE VINEYARD

OTQ SAUVIGNON BLANC

This is a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc like no other you've yet experienced!

A complex and nuanced nose of very ripe mango. pineapple, guava and crushed herbs, combined with toasted pecans and hazelnuts. This wine has a rich palate and softer acid than classic expressions of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Candied pineapple, mango and citrus flavours interlace with notes of honey and butterscotch and then give way to a long smoky complex finish.

TASTE THE WINE WITH JULES

"The sexy Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough!"

Listen to Jules describe the flavours in the OTQ barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc.

FOOD MATCH

The OTQ Sauvignon Blanc is an elegant and complex match for a variety of seafoods; scallops, grilled fish, squid, trout or salmon. It also works well with soft cheeses, or try it with Halloumi & smashed garlic potatoes with seasonal salsa.

OTQ SAUVIGNON BLANC WINEMAKING

Jules Taylor’s OTQ wines are a challenge to conventional winemaking interpretations of Marlborough signature varieties, as well as a personal indulgence for Jules.

Here Jules explains the winemaking techniques she uses for this barrel fermented OTQ Sauvignon Blanc.

For vintage specific details download the winemaker's notes in the section below.

VINEYARD NOTES

Jules selected the Holdaway vineyard in the Lower Wairau subregion of Marlborough for this single vineyard wine. Sauvignon Blanc from this regeneratively managed site shows particular intensity and a beautiful cross-section of the flavours Jules looks for in great Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

WINEMAKER's NOTES

Grapes were hand-picked, taken to the winery and whole cluster pressed into old barriques, where a fast, furious wild fermentation took place. The wine then went through a full malolactic fermentation to soften the acid profile and add layers of complexity. Occasional lees stirring took place in the barrels over spring and summer before the wine was blended, stabilised and bottled prior to the 2022 vintage.
