THE NEW VINTAGE WINES FROM JULES’ CAREFULLY CURATED OTQ SERIES ARE OUTSTANDING SMALL BATCH MARLBOROUGH WINES
The new vintages of Jules’ OTQ wines certainly live up to their carefully honed reputation.
The idea started with a perfect parcel of Sauvignon Blanc grapes back in 2012, hidden at the back of the cellar in an old barrel, and kept “On The Quiet” from the rest of the world (including husband George) until the very last moment... These small batch wines were originally made “On The Quiet” by Jules (hence the name), and they’ve quietly been finding their way into the best cellars and wine lists since then.
This month, Jules is excited to quietly introduce the latest vintages of this carefully curated series of single vineyard wines.

The OTQ Small Batch Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc – New Vintage 2020
“Captivating bouquet starting with barrel ferment and subtle spices of oak, some wild flowers then fresh, ripe pure fruit aromas from the variety. Flavours of peach and some kaffir lime, fresh red apple and lemon. Some quietly spoken year clear and crisp aromas of herbs. Pristine, fresh, precise and pure on the palate Flavours of citrus and some tropical fruits, fine lees then barrel ferment finish. The OTQ Small Batch Single Vineyard Pinot Noir - New Vintage 2020:
“100% Wrekin Vineyard sourced. Complex, pure, bright, fresh and inviting. Aromas and flavours of darker berries, toastier, spicier oak, (Francois Frerre, 30% ish), dark roses and violets, a mix of vanilla and clove spices, warm and generous, inviting and complex. Tannins deliver a mealy, fine chalky mouthfeel. A wine that delivers on aroma, flavour and texture persistently and consistently. Delicious and complex. The OTQ Small Batch Single Vineyard Pinot Noir Rosé - New Vintage 2021:
Sourced from the delightful Anderson Vineyard, nestled in the North-facing slopes of the upper Brancott Valley in Marlborough, This Pinot Noir Rosé is and exquisite balance of red fruit notes and subtle spices. Summery aromas of poached rhubarb, rose petals and raspberries fill the first sniff, subtly layered with notes of nougat and vanilla cream. The palate is juicy, dry and elegantly complex. It is the perfect wine for both summer barbeques and chic dinner parties.
The OTQ Small Batch Single Vineyard Chardonnay – New Vintage 2019 ~ Available online only ~
This Chardonnay is a full-throttle, barrel-fermented, sexy little number. A luscious gold colour, it boasts a complex nose of peaches, danish pastry, brazil nuts and a touch of wood smoke. The palate is rich and opulent with lashings of macadamia and spice, whilst retaining beautiful, concentrated citrus and stonefruit with an elegant backbone of acidity. It is a powerful, brilliantly structured wine with a long, complex finish.
The OTQ series is a curated selection of single vineyard, small batch wines made in tiny quantities and released only in the best vintages. Needless to say, they are all hard to get hold of and always sell out. Jules Taylor’s OTQ wines are a challenge to conventional winemaking interpretations of Marlborough signature varieties, as well as a personal indulgence for Jules.
